I’m not even doing NaNo officially this year, but my addiction has already started.
For all those NaNo’s out there, raise your hand if you are a Word Count Addict.
I have no idea what it is with NaNo, but something about it makes me want to check my Word Count every five seconds. I don’t care about my word count any other time of the year (okay, that’s a lie, I do care, I just don’t check it as obsessively), trying to live by the philosophy that quality is better than quantity. But come November, all bets are off…it’s all about the word count!
I don’t even care if everything I just wrote doesn’t make sense, is completely out of character, or will require 80 extra hours of editing to correct…it’s moving up my word count!
Anybody else need to join a Word Counter’s Anonymous group with me? Fess up.
I've been considering moving my primary blog that hasn't been updated since July (http://blog.myspace.com/emmarshall ) to Live Journal for several months.
I even re-did my LJ page design a month ago in preparation. This blog, however, has remained vacant and merely served as a place holder, so I can comment on other people's LJ pages.
That is until today!
And why is today so special?
Because it's November 1.
The first official day of NaNoWriMo!
And no, I'm not meaning I want to transfer over to LJ today because there's so many amazing writers on here that will support me throughout the month of November as I attempt to reach 50,000 words. No. Of course not. That would be an excellent reason. But instead, switching my blog today seemed like the perfect procrastination tool.
Yep, I'm one day in and my word count total today was an astounding...::drum roll::...36 words!
For anyone else participating in NaNo, I wish you luck and hope you accomplished more words than I did today.
