The live So You Think You Can Dance tour was amazing, and I really enjoyed it. If it's coming to your city still and you can get tickets, I'd highly recommend it. I might even go again next year, with all new dancers.
They did all the dances that I remembered I wanted to see, including: the flower and the hummingbird (duh, of course), two kings, transformers, one of the Paso Doble's, one of the venise waltz's, the flower song Mia Michaels did for her father, and the first Mia Michaels dance that Lacey and Kameron danced to on the first show where she does the splits in the air and wraps her legs around Kameron...
Unfortunately Lacey must have been injured or something, because Shauna did most of her dances.
And Lacey was my favorite.
Which is too bad. She was still there and did a solo, the flower dance, and two of the group numbers. But still.
Anyway, they also did a new dance with just the "breakers:" Sara, Hok, and Dominic, which was great. I LOVE breaking!
So here's some bad pics (yes, I know, I kept taking them even though each one turned out terrible. Call me optimistic.)
The hummingbird and flower dance with Hok and Jamie, which only gets better every time I watch it.
Mia's flower dance, which I missed on the show itself, and was okay in person. But it had Lacey in it and bright flowers all over the stage, and you can't go wrong with bright flowers.
The two kings one with Neil and Danny, which I like because of the meanness of the dance.
Here's the group Hairspray dance. Luckily Sabra didn't fall on her head like she did on the show. However, they replayed it enough times and other nasty falls during the show, that I flinched through this whole dance practically.
1.) Left over Halloween candy is both a blessing and a curse.
2.) I’m going to the live show of So You Think You Can Dance with my mother tomorrow! And I’m incredibly excited about it. I’ve been into this TV show since season 1 and I even started watching MTV’s Dancelife merely because Blake was on it (side note: is Dancelife even on anymore? I haven’t seen it in awhile, and I love that show! Jersey kicks butt in that show.)
3.) Despite going to the SYTYCD show, I really don’t believe I can dance. However, that doesn’t stop me from dancing around my house frequently and often to no music. In college, I used to dance all the time to the Grind workout videos. Not only did you get a workout, but you got to stare at Eric Nies abs and learn cool dance moves that you were supposed to use at the clubs (but seriously, do you think anyone really used the moves in real life?). Anyway, loved it!
4.) Despite not being able to dance, I am a huge dance-show/movie lover. Duh. So is it any wonder that I am already incredible excited about this.
Cheesy movie + Sequel + Dancing = Total Emily Movie
5.) This is my first ever Friday Five. I’ve been told Friday Five’s are the easiest and most fun blogs to write, and I think that’s something I’m going to agree with. I am a huge fan of lists. I love every type, shape, form, and color of lists imaginable. Being from Indiana, I think it’s something ingrained in our psyche, since David Letterman, the king of Top Ten Lists, is also a fellow Hoosier. Maybe it’s something they taught in elementary school. Possibly they made us question from an early age: “why write anything out in paragraph form, when you can write a list that’s more condescend, to-the-point, easier to read, and easier to understand?”
